Obituary for Alisha E. Weglinski

“Allow beauty to shatter you regularly. The loveliest people are the ones who have been burnt and torn at the seams, yet still send their open hearts into the world to mend with love again, and again, and again” – Victoria Erickson

Alisha E. Weglinski, 46, of Reading, died tragically and unexpectedly on June 3, 2022.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Joseph S. Weglinski, husband of Barbara, and Cheryl L. Frederick, wife of Beth A. Calabria.

In addition to her parents and stepparents, she is survived by two loving sons, Demerik A. Weglinski and Julius A. Benton, both of Reading; two siblings, Micah, husband of Lindsay McDevit Weglinski, Morgantown, West Virginia and Nicole Weglinski, Reading; her extended and loving family, Pastor Laddie, Linda and Shaka Benton; and one precious granddaughter, Ka’mila Benton, who was the joy in her life. Alisha is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Alisha was a graduate of Reading High School and attended Reading Area Community College.
Alisha was employed by Early Learning Center, Sanatoga, PA as a certified teacher’s aide and Family Caregivers Network, Pennsburg, PA, as a home health aide.

Alisha was a compassionate and loving individual who loved her family and always put family first. She had an inner strength and determination that allowed her to overcome many obstacles in her short life. Her humor was unmatched, and she was always able to laugh at herself. She told a story like no other and always had you in stitches and wanting to know more. She was truly one of a kind.

She had a deep love of music, with her favorite being The Weeknd. She loved being near the water, especially the beach and paddleboarding. You could always find her at a Reading Red Knights basketball game cheering on her team and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. But her greatest joy was spending her free time with her granddaughter, Ka’Mila.

A memorial service honoring Alisha’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 14 from 10am-11:30am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA. Service will begin at 11:30 with Pastor Laddie Benton officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Turtle Hospital at www.turtlehospital.org.
