CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF ANNA HIEN THUY PHAM

On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, Anna Hien Thuy Pham passed away in Leesport, PA at the age of 93. She was born on September 12, 1928, in Hanoi, Vietnam. Anna graduated from the Yersin French Nursing Program in the early 1950s. Before changing her practice to Nurse Practitioner (APRN), she was a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and served in Vietnamese Public Health before the Vietnam War ended in 1975. In Vietnam and after her migration to the United States, she had a long and successful career in nursing, with her last post in academics at the Berks Community College Nursing Program.

Anna has been the epitome of resiliency and persistence. During the Vietnam Conflict she was forced to migrate to South Vietnam when the Communist occupied North Vietnam, her birthplace. And further uprooted at the end of the Vietnam War, she sought asylum in the United States. She was able to build a new life and settle in Pennsylvania, making it her final home. While her husband and six children were unable to leave Vietnam, she relentlessly fought for 13 hard years to sponsor her husband and the rest of her children to be reunited with her in the United States. Thankfully to her, they are now thriving and living the American Dream.

Anna was a woman ahead her time, both a career woman and mother. She had eleven children with seven current surviving children. She was a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother. She adored having a large family and always wanted her children to be around. Enjoying the finer things in life, she loved to travel and had a hobby for collecting her favorite "bling- bling" sparkly souvenir. There has never been a shining jewelry that she didn't like, and she had a talented hand for knitting. She will be remembered for the dedication and love she brought to this world and will continue to take with her wherever she goes.

She is survived by her husband, Ly Pham; Hung Pham, her son (wife PhuongHang Nguyen and their children: Dong, Chau, (wife Jane Nguyen, Anh Thu Pham (husband Alex Fung and their children, Alana, Ava, Aaron), Huan Pham and daughter Thanh Trang); Charlie Pham, (wife Thuy Pham and their children: Phillip, Michael, Sabrina); Quynh Vantu, her daughter (daughter Quynh); Mai Wilhelmsen, her daughter (husband Finn Wilhelmsen, their daughter Vy Lam and (husband James Lam, grandsons: Nicholas and Benjamin); Trang Ammon, her daughter (husband Frank Ammon); Nhu Pham, (her children: Brian, Dennis and Nancy, (husband William Klinger and their children: Alison and Will,); Hoa Quynh Doan, her daughter (husband Dzung Doan); and many great-grandchildren; and her dear friends Louise and Art Grimm.

The family is respectfully requesting no flowers or donations.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 6 to 9 pm at Kuhn Funeral Home.
