Obituary for Arlene J. Boyer (Hacker)

Arlene J. Boyer, 99, formerly of Wernersville, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, in the care of the Mifflin Center. She was the widow of Aaron R. Boyer Sr., who passed away in 1985.

The youngest of the six children born to the late Harvey R. and Anna A. (Hornberger) Hacker, Arlene was a dedicated wife and mother. Her first career was with Diener Knitting Mills of Leesport where she worked as a Floor Lady. She later worked as a Nurses Aide at Community General Hospital. She retired in 1985 from the Maternity Store of the Berkshire Mall where she worked as a sales clerk for several years.

Arlene enjoyed reading romance novels and passed the time with word searches and rousing games of Bingo! As a younger woman, she was an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Left to treasure Arlene’s memory are her children: William R. Boyer (Sharon) of Arizona; Aaron R. Boyer Jr. (Sandra) of Bernville; Robert M. Boyer (Sherlyn) of South Carolina; Diane J. Dalessio (Walt) of Sinking Spring; and Sherry E. Slavetskas (Remy) of South Carolina. Arlene is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, her husband, and her brothers and sister, Arlene was predeceased by some of her grandchildren.

Services for Arlene will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at the Berks County Memorial Gardens.
