Obituary for Audrey G. Smith

Audrey G. (Geiger) Smith, 93, of Wernersville, born March 23, 1929, passed away on March 9, 2023, at Phoebe Berks Village. On August 26, 1950, she married the love of her life, Clifford H. Smith, who passed away in November 1998.

Born in New Kensington, she was a daughter of the late Earl Lee and Leah Ellen (Armitage) Geiger.

A graduate of New Kensington High School Class of 1947, and attended Mary Washington College in VA and Wittenberg University in OH.

She was an office manager for the Westmoreland Girl Scout Council, member of Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary Unit #14, Cabin Hill Couples Bowling and 500 Card Club, Order of the Eastern Star #435 Gelston Chapter, and Charter Member of Maplewood United Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir, Deacon, and member of the Martha Circle.

Audrey is survived by daughters, Deborah (Robert) McGahen, Erie, PA and Susan (Ferdinand) Gross, Sinking Spring, PA; grandchildren: Robert M. (Lacy) McGahen, Pensacola, FL; Douglas H. (Linda) McGahen, Erie, PA; Shane B. (Carrie) Gross, Bethlehem, PA; Trevor L. (Monika) Gross, Bethlehem, PA; and Lucas L. (Alyson) Seighman, Gettysburg, PA; and great grandchildren: Audrey, Melody, Norah, Simon, Aiden, Kira, Parker, and Helenka. Also survived by many cousins especially the Rev. Mary Marks-King and Dr. Charles Marks and spouses, and a niece in California.

She was predeceased by a twin brother at birth.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Phoebe Berks Chapel, Wernersville. Additional services will be held at Maplewood United Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Steven LaSor and Mary Marks-King on Friday, March 17, 2023, and following will be burial at Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Kepple-Graft Funeral home will be handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Audrey's memory to Maplewood United Presbyterian, 108 Woodland Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
