Obituary for Barbara Ellen Zuber
Barbara Ellen Zuber, 74, passed away on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 at Reading Hospital Medical Center.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was a daughter of the late Estel Otis and Theresa (Amato) Francis.
Barbara was a graduate of the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and Monroe Community College. Barbara worked as an accountant in the pharmaceutical industry and Action for a Better Community until her retirement in 2018.
Barbara loved to entertain. She was a dancer, singer in numerous choirs, and an actor. She was also very involved in her church, serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, liturgy chairperson, and dedicated choir member. Barbara was also a generous volunteer, most recently working with the Miller Keystone Blood Center.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Diane Buerke (Brian) of Reading, and Jennifer Adams of Rochester; brothers: Richard Francis of Long Island City, NY, Charles Francis (Diann) of Jackson, NJ, and Clifford Francis (Debra) of New York, New York; sister, Denise Zimber (fiance James McGlaughlin) of New Hampshire; grandchildren: Vincent Adams, Patricia Schenk (Kyle), Aaron Adams (fiancee Selecia Aca), Elizabeth Buerke, Patrick Buerke, Katherine Buerke, and Grace Buerke; and great-grandchildren, Leo and Cash.
Barbara was predeceased by her ex-husband, Richard Zuber.
A viewing will be held Thursday, September 8th, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Avenue West Reading, PA 19611. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at 10:00 am at St John Baptist de la Salle RC Church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held in Rochester, New York, at a later date.
Donations in Barbara's memory can be made to the Miller Keystone Blood Center or Opus One Berks Chamber Choir.
