Obituary for Barry C. Weitzel

Barry C. Weitzel, 75, passed away December 21, 2020. His loving wife of 52 years Carol A. (Williams) Weitzel was by his side.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Paul and Ruth (Weyandt) Weitzel.

He was a graduate of Wyomissing High School and attended Penn State University.

Barry was a U.S Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

Barry was self-employed as a safety consultant. He formerly was employed by Encompass Insurance Company.

Barry was previously the Mayor of the former West Lawn Boro, PA. He also was a member and past commander of the VFW Post # 6150, Sinking Spring, PA.

He enjoyed grilling, cooking and baking his delicious Christmas cookies. Some of his happiest days were spent at Lake-In-Wood or Williamsburg, VA.

Barry was an avid Penn State football fan.

A true fighter with a giant spirit to match Barry will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two siblings, Evelyn, wife of Carlen Bordner and Ronald, husband of Shirley Weitzel. Several nieces and nephews and his pets, Pepper and Ozzy also survive him.

Barry was predeceased by his brother, Paul Weitzel and his sister-in-law, Lois Weitzel.

Graveside services will be Monday, January 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Contributions in Barry Weitzel’s memory may be sent to The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, P.O.
