Obituary for Baruh Salinas Rodriguez

Baruh Salinas Rodriguez, 99, of Reading, died on May 13, 2022, at home. He was the husband of Margaret (Margo) Mervine Thomas.

Baruh was born in Remedios, Cuba to Matilde Mitrani Salinas and Haime Behar Rodriguez. He graduated from Havana University with a degree in engineering and after immigrating to the United States in 1949, earned a certificate of Professional Engineer from the Commonwealth of PA. He was employed by Gilbert Associates, Western Electric Company, and most recently, by Alcatel-Lucent.

Baruh enjoyed playing piano and guitar, attending classical concerts, reading, traveling with Margo, and socializing with friends. He was a board member of the Reading Symphony Orchestra and was instrumental in co-creating the RSO's diversity program "Music in the Making".

In addition to his wife Margo Thomas, Baruh is survived by his four children: Javier L. (Jacqueline) of Reading, PA; Mary L. of Philadelphia, PA; Anne L. (Dr. Alan) Mezey of Haverford, PA; and Edmond L. of College Park, MD; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Bill and David Thomas; and seven step-grandchildren.

Baruh was predeceased by his brothers Dr. Chalon S. Rodriguez and Dr. Edmond S. Rodriguez.
