Obituary for Bernard G. Behrenshausen
Bernard G. Behrenshausen, 93, of West Lawn, passed away on February 4, 2023 at Reading Hospital. Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Friederich E. and Sophie M. Behrenshausen and was the loving husband to Gloria (Burdan) Behrenshausen since 1951.
A 1947 graduate of Wilson High School, he joined the Naval Reserve in his junior year. Bernard then attended Temple University Technical Institute, Reading Extension, where he graduated in 1951. He worked as an electrical technician for 31 years for Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Muhlenberg until his retirement in 1990.
Bernard was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, where he volunteered in various positions. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling with his wife Gloria. Some of their fondest memories were their trips to Hawaii, wintering in Florida, and even a trip to Germany with his parents.
In addition to his wife, Bernard is survived by three sons; Bernard G. Behrenshausen, Jr., husband of Janet, Eric T. Behrenshausen, husband of Cheryl, and Kurt D. Behrenshausen, husband of Rita, seven grandchildren; Bryan, Brent, Lindsay, Derek, Bryn, Justin, and Andrea and two great-grandchildren Addilyn, and Adley, and a sister; Barbara Kasprowicz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11 A.M. at West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, Reading, PA 19609. A viewing will be held at 10 A.M. until the time of service. Burial to follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
