Obituary for Betty Lou Toth

Betty Lou (Goense) Toth passed on to her Eternal Reward on August 28, 2022 at the age of 94. She was a loving wife to her late husband Louis J. Toth for 53 years. Betty was born in Grand Rapids, MI and moved with her family as a young child to Elizabeth, NJ. After graduating high school, she entered training at the Jersey City Medical Center and became a Registered Nurse.

She shared her kindness, compassion and knowledge with her patients for more than 20 years working at the Jersey City Medical Center and later at Muhlenberg Medical Center in Plainfield, NJ.

Betty Lou was a loving mother who will be deeply missed by two children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They will be forever grateful for her loving support, guidance, prayers, and the sacrifices she made to give them all she could in this life. Betty loved reading, traveling (as long as it did not involve flying), and maybe most of all, cooking and teaching. She taught us her specialties and always had a new recipe for us to try.

Betty Lou was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Plainfield NJ, prior to moving to Douglassville, PA. Her example inspired the faith of her children and grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for children with infirmities and was a long-time donor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Betty Lou was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius Goense and Lucille (Dean) Goense, and her four siblings: Helen Jean (Goense) Antczak, Neil, Donald and James Goense. She is survived by a son, Eric M. Toth (Jennifer) of Douglassville; a daughter, Leslie Ellen Rogler (Charles) of Carmel, NY; grandsons: Christopher P. Rogler of Carmel, NY, Patrick J. Rogler (Valerie) of Portland, OR, and Eric M. Toth II of Douglassville, PA; granddaughters: Kimberly M. Rogler of Quincy, MA, Abigail V. MacDonald (Charles) of Bremmerton, WA, Heather A. Toth of Pooler, GA, Savannah L. Toth of Douglassville, and Mckenzie E. Toth of Douglassville; and great-grandchildren, Bridgette and Juliette.
