Betty C. Yeager, 89, of Hamburg, passed away on March 12, 2023, at the Laurel Center in Hamburg. Her husband, William H. Yeager, passed away on December 22, 2000. They enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage.
Born in Maxatawny Township, Betty was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Minnie (Heffner) Johnson.
Betty will be remembered for her dedication to her faith as a member of Zion Moselem Lutheran Church of Kutztown, as well as to her community as a member of Kutztown Grange #1836 for 70+ years. She held the office of Ceres and was the Family Activities director for many of those years. Betty worked as a cafeteria staff member of Hamburg Area School District, following her children from elementary, middle and finally high school. She continued to work there until her retirement. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, attending her beautiful flowers, and especially traveling. Cruising was her favorite.
Survivors include her children, Jane L. Adams (Michael) and Kenneth W. Yeager all of Hamburg. There is one surviving brother, Henry Johnson of Palestine, TX. Two grandchildren, Sara J. Wilhelm (Ryan), Leesport and Jennifer M. Beamon (Robert), Lebanon and five great-grandchildren: Olivia, Cole, Savannah, Riley, and Dylan, also survive her.
In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by siblings, Anna Kistler, Clarence Johnson. Helen Heffner, Grace Johnson, Mary Johnson, and Richard Johnson; also an infant daughter, Donna M. Yeager.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg. A service will be held Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Zion's Church, Windsor Castle.
