Obituary for Beverly J. Young

Beverly J. (Lynn) Young, 86, of Exeter Township, passed away December 20, 2022, at Reading Hospital.

She meant everything to her loving husband, Donald J. Young, Sr. The two were married for 65 wonderful years.

Born in East Orange, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Ethel (Trayer) Lynn.

Beverly was a 1954 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. As a very accomplished high school student-athlete, she served as captain of both the field hockey and basketball teams. She then went on to attend Kutztown College.

Beverly was an incredible homemaker who was dedicated to her family; one of the best gifts she gave her children was staying at home to raise them. She was a kind, incredibly smart, competitive, thoughtful, strong-willed, fiery woman with a heart of gold. Beverly cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They will forever remember her sass, giggle, and outstanding cooking. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love her.

She enjoyed watching all Philadelphia sports and testing her knowledge with trivia games- like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons: Donald J. Young Jr., husband of Kathleen Young (North Wales), Michael J. Young, fiancé of Nancy Rieti (Philadelphia), Joel J. Young, husband of Lisa Young (Mohrsville), and Matthew J. Young, husband of Terri Young (Schwenksville). Beverly is also survived by her sister Audrey Focht; eleven grandchildren: Lauren, Randy, husband of Daniella, Katie, Kylie, Shelby, Brandon, husband of Jenna, Alex, husband of Tanya, Morgan, Mattie, Grace, and Abigail; and seven great-grandchildren: Connor, Caiden, Londyn, Noah, Nathan, Henry, and Annalee.

Beverly was predeceased by her brother Alfred Lynn, her sisters Ethel Koehler and Barbara Roxberry; and her daughter-in-law, Jodi Young.

Services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
