Obituary for Carol Ann Dutt
Carol Ann Dutt, 77, of Lower Heidelberg Township, passed away during the early hours of Thursday, May 25, 2023, with the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Robert, by her side.
Born in West Reading to the late Raymond R. and Marie H. (Meyer) Gehrke, Carol graduated in 1979 from the School of Practical Nursing at Reading Muhlenberg Technical School. Her first position was at Community General Hospital, and she later worked at Berks Cardiovascular and Thoracic Associates. She served as a School Nurse for Tulpehocken School District, retiring from full time duties in 2008, and continued to fill in as a substitute following her retirement.
Carol was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Robesonia. She also was a member of the Robesonia Women’s Cub, the LPN Alumni Association, and a Member of the Red Hat Society.
The most important aspect of Carol’s life has always been her family, including her beloved dachshunds. She treasured watching her children and her grandchildren grow into wonderful people, and she looked forward to every family trip. She also valued time spent with dear friends. One of the trips she most treasured was her and Bob’s belated honeymoon to Hawaii for their 38th anniversary. She always loved the beach and the ocean as that was where she felt most closely connected to God.
Left to cherish Carol’s memory are her beloved husband, Robert; their children: Troy Dutt (Vera) of Stuarts Draft, VA, and Kristin M. Rothermel (Michael) of Ashland, VA; and their grandchildren, Kasey Dutt, Hanna Carter, Mitchell Rothermel, Aidan Rothermel, and Carson Rothermel. Carol is also survived by her brother, Raymond Gehrke (Jean) of Robesonia, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
