Carol L. Veigle, 72, of Millerstown, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023, at Reading Hospital with loving family at her side.
She was born in Harrisburg and was a daughter of the late James and Donna (Spear) Veigle.
Carol worked as an Independent Quality Assurance Auditor of scientific studies. A very patriotic veteran, she served as a Histologist in the United States Army and earned the National Defense Service Medal.
A young Carol poured her energy into playing softball, field hockey and basketball. In her later years she enjoyed watching all the sports, especially boxing and football. Her lifelong hobby was collecting buttons and vintage hats. She had a special appreciation for old military buttons. Carol loved rafting down the Swatara River, digging and collecting fossils, and living in the country.
Carol adored children and was very protective of them. We all knew her as "The Aunt Carol" as she was one-of-a-kind. She really enjoyed her time spent with all of her nieces and nephews over the years.
Many times in her life Carol took in wayward souls who needed a little help. She did her best to help them find direction and she cared for them during their difficult times. Carol was a loving, generous person, a great helper to anyone in need, and a true friend. She will be missed by many.
Carol is survived by her devoted wife of 32 years, Liz Allyn; and her sisters, Phyllis Kanoff, Harrisburg, PA; Paula and her husband, Steve Shirk, Grantville, PA.
She was predeceased by her brother, William Fissel; her twin sister, Carolyn Lee Carpenter; and her step-brother, Terry Young.
Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading is honored to serve the family with arrangements, held privately.
