Obituary for Cory Lee Carpenter

On November 2, 1978 Harry Leroy Blakey Sr (deceased) and Shirley Marie Walton (deceased) were blessed with the birth of Cory Lee Carpenter.

Born in Pottstown PA, Cory was the fifth child out of six. Cory was a graduate from Pottstown High, where he participated on the track team winning state championship his senior year. After completing high school, Cory entered into the work force where he was employed with Kencrest Rehabilitation Center and Walmart.

Cory’s compassion for animals also led him to a pet shop partnership with his late partner, Wilfredo Lugo Sanchez, in breeding exotic pets such as pythons, boa constrictors and tarantulas. Cory’s compassion for animals gave him experience with caring for an alligator, exotic tropical fish, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and a host of other exotic pets. Cory loved his three dogs Sophia, Astro, Cheech and his two cats Poopcake and Pepper.

When Cory was not at home “chillin” with his fur babies he would either be on the road vacationing with his Philly/DC family or in the neighborhood with his best friend, Ranita Smith and God Children, Ky’lif and Promize Underwood. Cory could also be seen paddling down the Schuylkill River in his kayak where him and Wilfredo often fished.

Cory is survived by his brothers, Kent Carpenter (Vanessa), Van Betts, Marcus Carpenter (Izetta), Ramon Carpenter, Aunt Barbara Jean Walton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
