Obituary for David E. Ache

David E. Ache, 88, peacefully passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Giamo) Ache. They were married 67 years.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Hazel (Evans) Ache Smith and Leroy Ache. David graduated from Girard College in Philadelphia in 1951, and earned a B.S. from Kutztown University in 1955 with a degree in Education. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1956 - 1958.

David had a long and successful professional career in the shoe industry. He was a claims adjuster and supervisor at Aetna Casualty Co., a territory manager and then president and CEO at Dellinger Sales Co. in Reading, president and CEO of OCODA Trading Co. based in Shillington, President and CEO of Coulson Heel Co. of Hanover; vice president of Unital Inc. of New Bedford, MA; and president of Unital-Coulson Div., L.Farber Corp. of Hanover.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by his three children: Jeffrey D. of Hanover, Andrea Ache-Witmer (Rock) of Shillington, and Melissa K. Shelley (Robert) of Uxbridge, MA; and five grandchildren: Carla Ache, Tony Ache, Matthew Shelley, Alexander Witmer, and Sara Witmer. He is also survived by his brother Col. (Ret.) L. Peter Ache of Mt. Lebanon, PA, and his sister Priscilla Purse of Devon, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

Dave had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. He enjoyed telling stories and loved recounting his many business trips to Italy and visiting with his friends there. He loved listening to jazz, golfing, fishing, and bird watching. He will be dearly missed by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery. The interment will be private.
