Obituary for Deborah Shaak
Deborah Shaak, 62, of Hamburg, passed away in her residence surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 23, 2023, after a devastating battle with cancer. She was the loving wife for 39 years of David A. Shaak.
Born to the late Walter and M. Lalene (Zweizig) Dietrich, Debbie grew up on her family’s farm. After graduating from Hamburg High School in 1978, Debbie graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse in the Cardiac ICU at Reading Hospital for about a decade before dedicating herself to raising her family. Later in life she worked at Doris Berry and Mountain View Supply and only recently retired.
Always a hard worker and caregiver, Debbie treasured the time she spent working on the family farm and loved helping her husband and sons. Her friends will remember her always having a smile and never letting her troubles cause her to have a bad day.
In addition to her husband, David, Debbie’s memory will be treasured by their sons, Travis (Kayla) and Christopher (Kearstan) Shaak, both of Shoemakersville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Layla, Clayton, and Daxton. Debbie was predeceased by her grandson, Colton.

A funeral service for Debbie will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 12:00 noon at First UCC of Hamburg, 76 S 3rd St, Hamburg, PA 19526, with committal to follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the start of services. Burkey-Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with services. Condolences may be expressed at burkeydriscoll.com.
