Obituary

Obituary for Dolores A. "Dolly" George (Rutter)

Dolores A. “Dolly” George, 81, of Fleetwood entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 7, 2021 in St. Joseph Medical Center.

She was the beloved wife of Douglas L. George whom she married September 19, 1993.

Born in Hershey, she was the daughter of Hubert and Mary Rutter but raised by her maternal grandparents: Peter and Emilia Wasilindra and a beloved aunt, Anna Barto of Pottstown.

Dolly was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship Church in Blandon where she enjoyed fellowshipping with other believers.

Dolly traveled the world as a young woman and mother: Thailand, Germany, Italy and Turkey to name a few places.

She loved to dance, especially the Jitterbug and was an excellent bowler for many years, earning numerous trophies.

Dolly loved others through her cooking, often making meals or pies to give away. She enjoyed gardening with her own yard being filled with seasonal vegetables and flowers.

An animal lover, “Crazy Bird Lady” was a term affectionately given to her by her son-in-law because Dolly rescued birds that others no longer wanted. She leaves behind nine birds and two slightly crazy dogs.

Dolly was a consummate sales woman, enjoying different sales positions until eventually working for Olan Mills as a photo sales consultant. After retiring from Olan Mills she took on caring for many elderly clients, basically operating her own business. At times even caring for those younger than herself.

Dolly was known to speak her mind but also was quick to laugh and joke. Her sudden illness and subsequent death came as a shock given that she was still caring for “elderly” clients just before her illness - a hard worker to the very end.

In addition to her husband Douglas, Dolly is survived by three children: Terri L. Hafer, Fleetwood; Tammy L., wife of Greg Eshbach, Reading and John P. Gechter, husband of Laura, Muhlenberg. Dolly is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren -with the fifteenth on the way, and a cousin; Diane Barto, Pottstown.

A celebration of life service will be held at a future date. Kuhn Funeral Homes Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dolly’s honor to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dolly was a wonderful caregiver to my mother, Marie, She always brightened my mother's day and would make her laugh with her stories. May you feel the presence of God surround your family with peace and comfort at this difficult time.
