Obituary for Dolores R. Milanek (Kazmierczak)
Dolores R. Milanek, 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Milanek, who passed away in 2002.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Bialek) Kazmierczak. Dolores worked for many years as a bench hand for Western Electric, and later in life in sales for Ambassador Greeting Cards. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was raising a family.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church and a member and former VP of the Slovak Catholic Sokol Wreath 155. She was active in the Catholic Women's Association, the Polish American Women's Association, the Rosary Society of St. Anthony Padua Church, and Solidarity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She enjoyed attending her family's sporting events, league bowling, gardening, crafting, attending Penn State football games, polka dances, and singing Polish Christmas carols. Most of all, she loved spending time with her beloved sons, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by her children: Katharine Leonard (Lil' Andy) of Forestville, J. Gregory Milanek (Elizabeth) of Wyomissing, Deborah Milanek of Reading, Josette Glossner of Reading, and Blaise Milanek (Amy) of Malvern; grandchildren: Matthew (Lisa), Mark (Alexis), Luke (Leah), Sarah, Alison (Chris), Benjamin (Lauren), Emily, Leslie, Blaise, Cassie, and Spencer; great grandchildren: Evan, Derek, Carter, Bryce, Olivia, Miles, Bela, Mia, Zuri, and Philip; brother, Walter (Erma) Kazmierczak; sister, Carol (James) Hoover; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by a brother, Richard, and a sister, Gloria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Monday, May 8, 2023 in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Albans Drive West Lawn, PA 19609. Friends and family are invited to gather from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611, and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. at the church. Private interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Reading at a later date.
