Obituary for Donald R. Klopp

Donald R. Klopp, 89, formerly of Pennside and of Kenhorst, passed away on October 31, 2022 at the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Arlene E. (Weidner) Klopp. His first wife of 47 years, Loretta M. (Wenrich) Klopp, passed away on September 18, 2006.

Born in Reading on July 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Raymond C. “Ray” and Cecelia H. (Ledzinski) Klopp.

He graduated Reading Catholic High School in 1951.

Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean War in 1951 to 1955. He served in the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron HS1 and the Aircraft Carrier USS Wright CVL 49.

He was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 21 years and retired from Occidental Chemical Corp after 15 years.

Donald was a life-member of Lodge 62 F&AM and served as Worshipful Master in 1979. He was also a member of the Rajah Shriners and life-member and officer of the South End Gun Club for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four step-children; many nieces and nephews; and several step-grandchildren.

Donald was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Giordano.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading with burial to follow at Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton.
