Obituary for Donald Lynn Reitz

Donald L. Reitz, 74,died August 14th, 2020 in the Reading Hospital. He was the loving husband of Nancy L. (Pavolaitis) Reitz. The couple married June 26, 1971.

Born in Mohnton on June 10, 1946, he was a son of the late Clair and Mary Ellen (Weiler) Reitz. He was a 1964 Governor Mifflin high school graduate.

Donald proudly served in Germany in the US Army during the Vietnam War.He was honorably discharged in 1972.

He was employed with the former Russell Plywood as a salesman for over 30 years until retirement. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, going to the mountains in Sullivan Co.and the Rehoboth beach and playing with his furry buddy, Bruno. But most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, Donald is survived by three children: Veronica (Reitz) Mincapelli and her husband, John of Robesonia, James Reitz and his fiancee, June Heffner of Pottsville and Kimberly (Reitz) Birmingham and her husband, Ryan of West Lawn; five grandchildren, Evan, Megan, Caleb, Kaleigh and James and a brother, Dean Reitz and his wife, Margaret (Bonosky) of Leesport.

Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Sandra (Glass) Reitz, wife of the late Richard Reitz.

A memorial gathering will be from 10 to 11am on Friday, August 28th in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611 followed by the memorial service in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Brett Reider officiating. Inurnment will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA where full funeral military honors will be accorded.
