Obituary for Doris E. Frymoyer

Print
Doris E. Frymoyer (Nagle), 84, died peacefully on November 20, 2018, after a long, hard battle with Alzheimer’s. Her two surviving children were by her side as she left this life, for the next. Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Lester O. and Cora L. (Hain) Nagle.

Doris graduated from Reading High School in 1952, and worked as a legal secretary. She was a talented singer who performed in a trio, and she was also an accomplished piano player. Doris met her husband John H. Frymoyer on a blind date at the age of 19. Two years later, on May 12, 1956, they were married at Calvary United Church of Christ in Reading. They started their life together in their first apartment in Sinking Spring and eventually moved to Shillington to raise their family. Doris was a life-long member of Calvary United Church of Christ, where she served as Superintendent for the Kindergarten Department. Doris was also a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir.

When her children were grown, Doris began playing tennis and golf. She enjoyed these sports both here in Pennsylvania and in Florida. Doris and John became “snowbirds” who traveled to Florida and each year they treated their grandchildren to visit them so they could still see them despite the distance. Doris and John were fortunate to travel to various destinations worldwide, and both were avid lovers of jazz music. They were both members of the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz. Doris loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She especially loved playing all types of games with the kids, and Doris’ laughter would often fill the room as they played together. Doris enjoyed her yearly trips to the family’s favorite beach destination, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Doris is survived by her husband John, her daughter Janet Price (Frymoyer) and husband Dwight of Doylestown, PA, and her youngest son Mark Frymoyer and his partner Lucy Roberts, of West Lawn, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Amanda, Eric, and Emily Price. She was preceded in death by her first born son, Glenn E. Frymoyer, as well as her seven siblings.

Doris was fortunate to spend the later part of her life at Columbia Cottage in Wyomissing, along with her husband John. She was cared for and loved by the entire staff at Columbia Cottage. The staff from Grane Hospice also loved her, and cared for her till the end.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 12 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA.
