Obituary for Doris A. Schieck
Doris A. Penta Schieck went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.
Born in Reading in 1941, Doris was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. John J. Penta.
She attended the Reading school system, graduated from Millersville University in 1963 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, then obtained a Master of Library Science from Kutztown University in 1965.
Following her education, she was an elementary school teacher for both Womelsdorf and Conrad Weiser school districts.
Doris was predeceased by her former husband, Raymond Schieck of Wyomissing. She is survived by her son Scott M. Schaffer of Scranton; brothers, John M. Penta MD and his wife, Ruth, of Wyomissing, and James L. Penta and his wife, Catherine, of Womelsdorf; nieces Jennifer Johnson of Alexandria, VA and Katie R. Penta of Bradenton Beach, FL as well as nephew Stephen J. Penta of New York City.
Doris loved old movies, movie stars and especially her long-term correspondence with Julie Harris. She never forgot a movie that she saw, nor a book that she read. She had a very kind heart and cared so much about others. Her love for animals was a well-known passion.
The family would like to thank everyone who cared so compassionately and professionally for Doris at Phoebe Berks Ministries in Wernersville. The staff made Doris feel like Phoebe was her home.
