Obituary for Edith F. Jarsocrak

Edith F. (Posey) Jarsocrak, 100, affectionately known as Pudge to her family and close friends, passed peacefully with her son and niece by her side in the residence of her son on Monday, May 31, 2021.

She was the widow of Theodore F. Jarsocrak, who died on August 21, 1994.

Born in Reading on August 13, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Alfred G. and Catharine R. (Hiester) Posey.

Edith was a graduate of Reading High School.

She was employed by Dolfin Swimwear for many years, retiring in 1979.

Edith was blessed with boundless energy and a relentless focus of living life to the fullness including being a 30-year season ticket holder of the Philadelphia Phillies where she enjoyed Sunday games in the company of her family and the many friends she came to know in section 113 at Citizens Bank Park. On her 90th birthday, she was treated to having her name displayed on the scoreboard at the ballpark. Last year she was surprised by a caravan drive-by of her family and friends as they shared in celebrating her 100th birthday. She enjoyed baking for family gatherings, and was especially known for her special chocolate cake.

She is survived by her loving son, Ted Jarsocrak, Wyomissing, with whom she last resided; her niece, Pat Moser, wife of LaVerne Moser of Bally, PA.

Edith was predeceased by her three sisters: Mildred F. Yerger, Gladys H. Kurtz and Harriett E. Walker.

Edith’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her Compasssus Hospice and Comfort Keeper aides and nurses for their loving care and kindness.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edith’s name to the Daughters of the American Revolution at www.dar.org/giving/ways-give/donate-online. Edward J.
