Obituary for Efrain Perez-Vargas Dr.
Dr. Efrain Perez-Vargas, 60, passed away on July 19, 2022, in his Spring Township home. He was the loving husband of Liza Perez. They married in 1987 and shared 35 years together.
Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Efrain and Elba Perez. Efrain graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School in San Juan Puerto Rico in 1986. He completed his residency in Neurology at SUNY Upstate Science Center in Syracuse New York in 1992 and proceeded to complete a fellowship in Movement Disorders at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in 1994. He currently practiced at Tower Health Medical Center.
Efrain was a devout Christian and sought to do God’s work every day in his medical practice. He loved his patients deeply and felt privileged to care for each and every one of them. His dedication to serving others inspired all three of his children to pursue careers of service as well. One of his children cited his joy for his career as her inspiration, as he was always so happy to go to work even during difficult times. Efrain was a truly compassionate husband, father, son, brother, and physician, he was proud of each and every one of those titles. Left to treasure his memory are his adoring wife Liza Perez, three children, David Perez, Christina Perez, Rebecca and her husband Nathaniel Apgar, parents, Efrain and Elba Perez, siblings Elba and her husband Rafael Roques and Eduardo and his wife Angela Perez, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Stella Mia. Not to mention the many wonderful patients he got to care for.
He was predeceased by his brother Edgar.
A memorial service for Efrain will be held at a later date.
