Obituary for Elizabeth Alice Haydt
Elizabeth A. “Betty” Haydt, 83, of Gilbertsville, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pottsville, PA, on February 6, 1939, Betty was the daughter of the late Leo and Alice (O’Brien) Schuster. After graduating from Nativity BVM High School in 1956, she attended St Agnes School of Nursing in South Philadelphia and graduated in 1959.
Betty spent 50 years working at Pottstown Hospital, primarily as an emergency room nurse. During this time, she continued her education and earned her MSN from West Chester University. Betty was very active with the PA Emergency Nurses Association, including serving as past president and receiving the inaugural Rita Celmer award in 1991.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Henry Haydt; two sons, David Haydt (Carla) and John Haydt (Brenda); three grandchildren: Justin, Christopher and Josh and two great granddaughters, Greta and Harriet.
Betty’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Aloysius R.C.C. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. A visitation will be held Saturday, from 9:00 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. at the Gathering Center of St. Aloysius R.C.C.Burial will be held privately at a later date, per Betty’s wishes. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania or St Aloysius R.C.C.
