Obituary for Elizabeth K. Ruffing
Elizabeth Kathleen Ruffing, age 85, of Pottstown, PA passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2023.
Elizabeth grew up in the Pottstown area, the daughter of Elizabeth and Michael Yonkovitch. She graduated from Pottstown High School and earned her Associate’s degree from Gwynedd Mercy University. Elizabeth was the wife of William Ruffing and a homemaker during the early years of her life as she raised her children. She then worked for 20 years at Phoenixville hospital where she had a career as a medical receptionist. She was a strong and courageous mother who lived her life on her own terms. She loved travel, music and old movies and enjoyed the finer things in life. She loved experiencing new adventures and recently had the opportunity to attend the Willie Nelson concert with friends.
She is the mother of Karen Mooney (Joe), Kevin Ruffing (Sharon), Kim Melodick (Tom), and Katrina Streeter. She also had 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild whom she loved dearly. She had many nieces and nephews as well as cherished friendships. Her life has been an inspiration to others who saw her as a person who never let life’s limitations hold her back.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life service at Holy Trinity Church located at 366 South Street, Pottstown, PA 19464 on Saturday, January 21, 2023. Guests are welcome to begin arriving at 10:00 am with a mass beginning at 11:00am.
The inurnments will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at http://www.stjude.org
