Obituary for Elnor K. Thompson (Kohnert)
Elnor K. Thomspon, 92, formerly of Sinking Spring,PA passed away on February 27, 2023, in Ormond Beach, FL. She was the widow of Henry H. Thompson, who passed away in 2007.
Born in LaCrosse, WI, she was a child of the late Gustave and Celia (Sonenberg) Kohnert. She graduated from Melrose High School in 1948 and graduated from University of Wisconsin at Lacrosse in 1953 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught kindergarten at Lower Heidelberg, Sinking Spring, Lincoln Park, and Whitfield elementary schools of Berks County, PA, retiring in 1995 from the Wilson School District.
She was a member of the Lions Club of Spring Township. She also dedicated time to volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Berks County.
Left to cherish Elnor’s memory are her sons, Brian J. Thompson (Holly) of Ormond Beach, FL, and Greg A. Thompson (Julie Jenkins) of Brooklyn Park, MN; her grandchildren, Laura Jean Thompson of Daytona Beach,FL and Nathaniel A. Thompson and his fiancee Fanny Kristiansson of Sanford, FL; her late siblings: Clark A. Kohnert of Pigeon Falls, WI; Janet Cotton of Becker MN; June Spors of Edgerton, WI; and her late brother in law Roy Thompson of Mahtomedi, MN. She also leaves behind a large extended family including many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Encore of Berks County at 40 N 9th St, Reading, PA 19601.
Committal services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery, 650 Fritztown Rd, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
