Obituary for George Milton Hasker

George Milton Hasker, 94, formerly of Temple, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, in the care of Mifflin Court. He was the widower of Jacquelyn A. (Pleam) Hasker, with whom he shared over 65 loving years before her passing on March 10, 2018.

Born in Penn Township to the late William and Mabel (Shrack) Hasker, George graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1948 as a three-sport athlete: football, basketball, and track. He served his country honorably as an Army soldier during the Korean War.

George was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church since 1952, and he served on the church council and many committees.

An Iron worker, George retired in 1987 from Carpenter Technology as an ESR furnace operator.

He was active with the Boy Scouts of America for over 70 years and served as Cub Master, Scout Master, Explorer Advisor, Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, National Jamboree Leader, Philmont Leader, Training Courses Instructor, Merit Badge Counselor, Camp Staff Hawk Mountain Counsel, Handicraft Director for four years, and National Camp Staff Trainer. His dedication and service was recognized in countless ways, including: the Wood Badge; Silver Beaver; Cub, Scout, and Explore Key; Order of the Arrow; and 50 years in Scouting Recognition.

George enjoyed carpentry and woodcarving, and he was a member of the National Woodcarver’s Association, Lancaster Woodcarvers, and Pretzel City Carvers.

Left to treasure George’s memory are his children: Michael G. Hasker, DMD, husband of Susan; and Patricia A. (Hasker) Rittenhouse, wife of Paul; grandchildren: Geoffrey Hasker, husband of Betty; Lauren (Hasker) Licwinko, wife of Trevor; Amanda Rittenhouse; and Alyssa Rittenhouse Merkow, wife of Phil; and four great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, George was predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Harold, and Clair.
