Obituary for Gerda A. Serikov
Gerda A. Serikov, of Wyomissing, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, in the care of County Meadows. She was 94 years old. Gerda was the widow of Igor P. Serikov, who passed away in 1982.
Born in the German Königshütte, today’s Poland, to the late Hubert and Elfriede (nee Hensel) Scholz, Gerda immigrated to the United States in the 1950’s with her husband, and became a naturalized citizen in 1957. Gerda worked for many years at Meridian Bank, retiring in the early 1990’s as a Supervisor.
Gerda was an avid reader, enjoyed classical music, and loved feeding the birds in her garden. Her German heritage always brought great comfort to her. After Igor’s passing, Gerda traveled extensively with her companion, Michael Rilli, who passed away in 2003. She was often in the presence of her beloved sister, Gisela, who came to visit for several months.
She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church of Reading for their German services.
Gerda is survived by her niece, Susanne, and her nephew Thomas, who live in Germany, both of whom meant everything to Gerda. She is also survived by dear friends. In addition to her parents, husband, Igor, and companion, Michael, Gerda was predeceased by her sister, Gisela.
Gerda was a lovely and generous person. Through her death, the world has become a little poorer. We will miss her.
Gerda’s friends and family thank the dedicated staff of Country Meadows for their care and devotion to Gerda these past years.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with committal to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
