Howard David Zimmerman, Jr., age 95, of Wyomissing, passed away on June 8, 2022. He was the loving husband of Nancy L. Zimmerman, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.
Howard was born on January 18, 1927, to parents Howard David Zimmerman, Sr., and Agnes Eleanor Zimmerman (Simon) in Allentown. He graduated from Allen William High School. During World War II, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country in the Baltic Sea and later in the Pacific Ocean onboard the U.S.S. Tranquility hospital ship. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
During his career as a sales executive, Howard gained national recognition awards for leadership, rising through the ranks to become a National Sales Manager. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed attending baseball games, in particular the Baltimore Orioles.
Howard served as a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and role model. He is survived by sons David K. Zimmerman (Diane) of Lower Gwynedd, and Craig A. Zimmerman (Gina) of Summerville, SC; step-son Scott E. Taylor (Shelly) of AR; step-daughter Candis Hummel (Douglas) of Land-O-Lakes, FL; as well as granddaughters Chrissy Griffin (Josh), Lauren Brady (Matthew) and Amanda Sheroff (Matthew). He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Kirstie L. Anderson, Chasity L. Cooper, Gavin Taylor, Paul Taylor, Brett Hummel, and Chad Hummel in addition to eight great grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 17, at 11:00 am at Nativity Lutheran Church, 1501 N 13th St, Reading, PA. Family will receive guests at the church from 10:30 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nativity Lutheran Church where Howard and Nancy were married and served as long-time members.
