Obituary for J. Richard Thren
J. Richard Thren, 86, passed away December 15, 2020, in his Blandon residence.
He was the loving husband of Mary L. (Purcell) Thren. They married on August 20, 1955.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Francis R. and Catherine E. (Foreman) Thren.
He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1952, Wharton School of Finance in 1957 and Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ in 1982.
J. Richard was employed by Met Ed and GPU Service Corporation, Parsippany, NJ as an assistant controller, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
J. Richard was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, The Pocono Golf Club, as well as the Old Goats. He also was past State Chairman of the Pennsylvania Jr. Miss Pageant and on the Planning Commission Committee for the Maiden Creek Township.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Katherine, wife of Larry Klick, AZ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday December 22, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3125 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605. Entombment will be private. Friends may call Tuesday, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560.
