Obituary for Jacob Michael Rumer
Jacob M. Rumer, 28, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Born in Fayetteville, NC, he is a child of Michael J. Rumer of Roseville, MN, and Jamie (Piche) Shaffer, wife of Stephen Shaffer, of Sinking Spring.
Jacob attended Wilson School District and was part of the class of 2012. Previously, he worked for Hurst Tire, and, most recently, Jacob served as Department Lead for Reitnouer Trailers, where he worked since 2021.
He was a dedicated, loving, and involved father; a loyal son to Jamie and Mike; and a trusted brother to his siblings. He had ambition to build a future and was the go-to-guy for any computer repairs. He was brilliant and fun-loving.
In addition to his parents, left to treasure his memory are: his children, Ava, Theodore, and Charlotte Rumer, along with their mother, Mary Kearney, of West Lawn; his sister, Brandy N. Rumer, fiancé of Jose Ortiz, of Shillington; his brother, Nicholas J. Rumer, Graduate of Liberty University; his maternal grandmother, Linda Bates, widow of Jerry Bates, of Douglassville; his step-brother, Ian Shaffer, fiancé of Kaylea DeLuca, of West Lawn; and his best friend, Alex DeNunzio. Jacob is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families. He was predeceased by: his maternal grandfather, James Piche, who is survived by his wife, Rita Piche, Hamburg; his paternal grandfather, Stephen Rumer; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Sue Rumer.
Services for Jacob will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at Sinking Spring Cemetery. Visitation with viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Visitation without viewing will be held Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the start of services.
