Obituary for James J. Botwright
James J. Botwright, 80, of Shoemakersville, passed away Tuesday April 11, 2023, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Nancy A. (Gibson) Botwright.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was a son of the late Norris J. and Helen M. (Jenco) Botwright.
James was employed by Carpenter Steel as a crane operator for 31 years.
He was an avid hunter and a car enthusiast; James enjoyed everything from car shows to working on them. His friendly personality and caring nature drew him to numerous social clubs. He especially appreciated a “cold one” with friends at the North End Rod and Gun Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: James, husband of Mary Jo Muckey, Wesley Muckey, Jeremy, husband of Heather Rutkowski, Amy Botwright, wife of Jason Lieberman, and Brieane M. Botwright, wife of Aaron Adam; one sister, Kathleen, wife of Charles McNichol; and seven grandchildren: Vincent, Sophia, Dallas, Shyla, Megan, Connor, and Alexis. Five great-grandchildren; one aunt, Rita, wife of James Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
James was predeceased by three siblings: Timothy Botwright, Gery Botwright, and Pamela Frost.
Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories on April 22 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the North End Rod and Gun Club, 2010 Fairmont Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
