Obituary for James C. Papada

James C. Papada, 82, of Shillington, passed away Monday, February 7th, 2022 in the care of Penn State St. Joseph's Medical Center. He was the husband of Ann (Schaefer) Papada.

Born in Pottsville in 1939, he was the son of Anthony Papada and Blanche (Klock) Papada.

He was a graduate of Minersville High School in 1957 and Susquehanna University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, graduating in 1964 having received a Master of Divinity degree. During his 39 years of service as an ordained Lutheran Pastor he served the following churches: Grace Lutheran Lehighton, Friedens Church Oley, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Wilkes-Barre, Grace Lutheran Church Shillington, and New Bethel Kempton. He retired in 2003.

He was a past Chairman of the Board at Bear Creek Camp and a past Co-Director of Kirchentag. He served for one year as chaplain of the Synodical Convention.

Jim's favorite pastimes were golfing, reading of historical and suspense books, and enjoying a cigar on the porch.

He is survived by two sons, Chris Papada and wife Jeryl; and Benjamin Papada and wife Tammie.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, 30 Liberty St, Shillington.
