Obituary for Jan L. Peoples
Jan L. Peoples, 69, of Reading, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, in the care of Reading Hospital. Born in Abington to the late Harry and Leona (Weichenmaier) Peoples, Jan graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1970 before earning her Associates Degree from Reading Area Community College in 1975.
Her Catholic faith was very precious to Jan. She was a member of the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, a regular member of her Cursillo Saturday morning prayer group, and a faithful member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. She completed the Institute for Lay Ministry (ILEM) program with the Allentown Diocese in 2007. Jan supported the pro-life work of Lifeline of Berks County, and was a regular attendee of the Defending the Faith Conference at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.
Jan was an employee benefits manager for the IBEW Local 743 until her retirement. She enjoyed caring for her cats, tending to her many plants and her many faith based activities.
Her memory is treasured by her cousin Linda Erber; Linda’s daughter, Rachel Newton; Rachel’s children, Quincy, Vidal, and Haley; Linda's son, Rainer Erber; Rainer's children Matthew, Brianna and Kirsten; and her cousin Jackie Eckert. Jan is also survived by dear friends who will miss her greatly. She was predeceased by her cat, Zachariah and is survived by her other cat, Joyful who will miss her too.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, 2427 Perkiomen Ave, Reading, PA 19606 with committal to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605.
