Obituary for Joseph "Skip" Jagielski

Joseph Stanley Jagielski, better known as “Skip,” 74, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at his home in Spring Township with family by his side. Born in West Reading on June 30, 1947, he was the son of Stanley and Florence (Dombroski) Jagielski. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Lorraine (Carrozza) Jagielski for over 50 years.

He was a member of the Reading Scuba Club and part of the first graduating class of Holy Name High School. He went on to graduate from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Met Ed, Kane Steel, Gilbert Commonwealth, and Alvernia University before realizing one of his life dreams was owning his own business, Reading Casual Patio and Fireplace with his wife. In his “retirement” he began perhaps his most cherished positions as Facilities Director, first for Holy Guardian Angels and then for St. Ignatius Loyola School where he worked until the time of his death.

Skip lived a life of service to his community, following in his father’s footsteps to become a volunteer fireman. He volunteered at the West Lawn Fire Company for over 25 years and rose through the ranks, serving as a Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and Chief. He also served as an EMT for Western Berks Ambulance Association. His family, however, was his greatest pride and joy.

Skip enjoyed camping with his family and friends, canoeing, hiking, fishing, sitting by the pool, playing mini golf and games with his grandchildren, and spending time with his family.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Lisa Jagielski and Andrea Levan; son-in-law Christopher Levan; and grandchildren, Hailey and Wyatt Levan. He is also survived by his brother, sister, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Skip’s family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to all those friends and family who offered tremendous support and prayers during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his name to St. Ignatius Loyola School, 2810 St. Albans Dr, Sinking Spring, PA 19608, to defray the cost of the new roof on the school, a recent project that he proudly oversaw to completion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the church he attended for over 50 years, St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, West Lawn. Friends and family may gather in the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
