Obituary for Joseph Elwood Kalis
Joseph E. Kalis, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in the care of West Reading Nursing and Rehab. He was the widower of Nancy L. Kalis, who passed away July 28, 2019.
Born in West Pottsgrove Township, he was the son of the late Francis and Marian (Rhoads) Kalis. He served in the US Navy Reserves during the Korean War. After departing the service, Joseph and Nancy resided in West Reading for over 50 years.
Joseph was a fan of all sports, but most especially baseball and football. He was a passionate Eagles fan. He enjoyed fishing, a hobby he shared with his wife, and held a deep appreciation for coffee.
Left to treasure his memory are his children: Kathy Skipper; Michael Kalis; Tammy Burkey; and Connie "Cricket" Stilianos. He is also survived by his brother, Steve; twelve grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gary and Dave.
