Obituary for Joseph H. Shannon
Joseph H. Shannon, 98, of Reading, PA died February 4, 2021, at the Berkshire Center where he was recuperating after having Covid-19. We are sure his late wife, Margaret E.(Owens) Shannon, met him with open arms, along with his parents, Herbert J. and Martha R. Shannon.
He is survived by his children: J. Michael Shannon (Rosemary) of Mohnton, PA, and Susan C. Moran (Robert) of Derby, KS,
who will carry on his spirit and zest for life. He is also survived by his pride and joy, grandchildren: Keli Stone, Wichita KS, Robert M. Shannon(Val), Sinking Spring, PA and Megan E. (Shannon) Sherman, (Daniel) Kensington, MD; and by his all time favorites, his 7 great grandchildren: Hope, Faith, Grace, Riley, Caroline, Benjamin, and Jack.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, John Shannon, Mary Ganster, Bernard Shannon, Rita Delmonico, and Margaret Borkey.
Joe was the President and founder of Hegins Manufacturing Corp and spent his entire life in the garment industry. He was a double Purple Heart recipient from WWII as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division.
Our family would like to thank the staff at The Manor at Market Square, Reading Hospital, Encompass Health, and the Berkshire Center for their care and support. Special thanks to Cathy Cammarano for her above and beyond loving care of our father.
