Obituary for Katherine C. Reiter (Bropst)
Katherine C. Reiter, 85, formerly of Bernville, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022. She was the widow of Jay W. Reiter, who passed away in 2012 after 55 years of marriage.
She was born in Lockhaven to the late Clifton H. and Ruth (Dullen) Bropst. Katherine graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1955 and went on to graduate from Baltimore City Hospital’s Nursing Program. She worked as an RN at Community General Hospital of Reading and later worked for over 11 years at Boscov’s North.
Katherine was a member of the former Holy Spirit Church of Reading.
A deeply compassionate woman, Katherine was a founding member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and she served as the organization’s president. She loved her dogs and enjoyed Elvis.
Katherine is survived by her daughters, Dyanna L. (Michael) Romich of Reading and Darlene K. (Jeffrey S.) Doerrman of Conway, SC; her grandchildren, Crystal Kaytt and Dennis Reiter Jr.; and her three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Jay, and her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her son, Dennis J. Reiter Sr., and her sister, Rhoda L. Truax.
