Obituary for Kenneth Robert "Kenny" Ernst
Kenneth “Bud” Robert Ernst, 86, passed away peacefully at the Reading Hospital on Saturday, December 26, 2020, with his wife at his side.
He was the loving husband of Helen Ruth (Troutman) Ernst. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Edwin and Gertrude (Franks) Ernst.
He was a 1954 graduate of Ontelaunee High School. Kenny was a UPS Driver for 36 years until retiring in 1996. He was a former Fire Chief for the Greenfields Fire Company, enjoyed teaching fire prevention at schools, and was a member of the Lebanon Valley baseball team. He enjoyed baseball, the seashore, visiting family in Michigan, taking walks, being outside and enjoyed his dogs as well as visits from neighborhood dogs. Kenny was a member of Kissinger's Church, Wyomissing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Ernst, Reading, step-daughter, Sharon, wife of William Umberger, Kalamazoo, MI; three grandchildren: Bill, Ryan, and Madison; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ella.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Virginia Fix and Ernest “Red" Ernst.
A Celebration of Kenny's life is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the grounds of Kissinger's Church 715 Berkshire Blvd, Wyomissing.
