Obituary for Lillian C. Landau

Lillian Cecelia (Bialas) Landau, 86, of Wyomissing, passed away on December 18, 2020, in the care of The Reading Hospital. She has joined the love of her life and husband of 49 years, Donald, who preceded her in death in 2003. Lillian was the daughter of the late Julian and Katarzyna (Raczidvo) Bialas, both immigrants from Austria-Poland. She was raised on South 12th Street, Reading next door to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Lillian attended St Mary’s grade school and spoke fondly of her childhood in the Polish community.

After graduating from Reading High School in 1952, she met Donald upon his return from the service. They married in 1954 during High Mass at St Mary’s Church. They soon had three boys, Mark, Dave and Duane. Lillian worked closely with Donald at the start of the family business, Accounts Recovery Bureau.

She enjoyed traveling worldwide as well as family summer vacation fishing trips to the Rideau Lakes in Canada or to the Delaware and New Jersey shores. She loved the impromptu weekend jaunts to Atlantic City, and day trips going to the horse races with Donald.

For thirty years, Tuesdays were spent playing tennis at Hillcrest with girlfriends. Summers included playing volleyball at Ken Grill Pool, followed by a cookout and playing Pinochle with close friends and family.

Her greatest love was her family, raising her three boys and later life her seven grandchildren. She was engaged from the sidelines at all sporting events, dance recitals and anything that involved the Landau grandchildren. Lillian gave us all the example of how family comes first.

Lillian is survived by her three children: Mark Landau (Sabrina Banks), David Landau (Mary Hartley) and Duane Landau (Shelly Duer); seven grandchildren: David Landau, Jr (Kristin Caiazzo), Christine Landau, Elise Landau, Caroline Landau, Paige Landau, Hannah Landau, Lauren Landau, sister-in-law Celia Bialas, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Adam Bialas, Edward Bialas, Henry Bialas and Wanda Bialas.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, West Reading. Due to Covid-19, services will be private at the convenience of the family. Gifts in memory of Lillian can be made in her name to The Opportunity House of Reading, https://opphouse.org/donate/.
