Obituary for Luis Filpo

Luis Filpo, 64, of Reading passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Maria (Medina) de Filpo.

Born Oct. 11, 1955, in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Luis was the son of the late Ramon Antonio Filpo and Ana Virginia (Saze) de Filpo.

He worked as a cutter in a clothing factory, then as a taxi driver.

Luis loved his family, loved people, loved to dance and loved to joke.

He is survived by, in addition to his wife Maria, four children: Jorge Luis Filpo of Lynn, Mass.; Joel Filpo of Australia; Katherine Filpo of Philadelphia; and Luis Sebastian Filpo of Reading. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Yveth Portorreal.

He is also survived by eight siblings: Freddy Filpo, husband of Maria; Nancy Filpo, wife of Mauricio; Damaris Morel, wife of Augustine; Nery Filpo, wife of Joseph; Margarita Filpo, wife of Juan; Rolando Filpo, husband of Annie; Sonia Garcia, wife of Fausto; and Geovanni Filpo, husband of Joanne.

There are many nieces and nephews.

Luis was predeceased by a brother, Rafael Filpo, and a sister, Ramona Filpo.

Visitation at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, is Sunday, July 5, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Services follow at Kuhn Funeral Home at 4 p.m.
