Obituary for Manuel Amante, Sr.

Manuel "Manny" Amante, 82, of Muhlenberg, passed away November 21, 2018, in the Reading Hospital.

Born September 21, 1937, in Balingasag Misamis Oriental Mindano Philippines. He was the youngest of 11 children. He was the beloved husband of Susan E. (Weihrer) Amante, whom he married March 27, 1982.

Manny was a professional musician, playing the trumpet, flute and other various instruments. He performed with various bands in the Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong and on Holland American cruise ships, where he met his future wife, Sue while playing on the "Rotterdam". Manny also played with Swing Fever Band before he retired and long after his retirement.

He worked at a variety of jobs until he started to work at Grosfillex as a warehouse man and retired after 20 years.

In retirement, Manny liked going to the casinos with HGA Senior club. he also enjoyed going to the auctions and flea markets, where he also had a stand selling tools and musical instruments.

Manny will be missed by his wife, who enjoyed listening to him play his trumpet and flute every night after dinner. He will also be missed by his son, Manuel Jr., husband of Judith Amante; three grandchildren, Clark Iverson B. Amante, Aaron B. Amante, and Laurence B. Amante; brother, Lino Amante, all residing in the Philippines. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews living worldwide

He was predeceased by nine siblings.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 5153 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560 with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Temple, is in charge of arrangement. Susan would like to thank all the doctors, nurses at the Reading Hospital ER, T1, C3 and NICU for all their care and concern of Manny.
