Obituary for Margaret "Peg" Daniels
Margaret A. Daniels, 96, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, in her West Lawn residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Christian Monroe Daniels, with whom she shared almost 50 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Smith) Carl. After graduating from Reading High School in 1945, Margaret worked for Willson Products for a time. After finding the love of her life in Christian (whom she called Dag), she became a full time homemaker and went on to raise three children. She was their greatest cheerleader, never missing a sporting event. "Peg" as family and friends knew her, loved to knit and make quilts. She attributed her longevity to her nightly "happy hour" ritual: two glasses of White Zinfandel, which she enjoyed with Dieffenbach chips.
Margaret was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola RCC.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Duane Daniels (Shirley) and David Daniels (Tracy); and daughter, Diane Daniels Hettinger (Mitchell), all of Sinking Spring; grandchildren: Ian Hettinger, Christine Daniels (Tony Ho), Andrew Hettinger (Tasha), Mark Daniels, and Nicole Daniels; great-grandchildren: Lukas, Kinsley, and Alric; and a sister, Betty Shuman of Mt. Penn.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Avenue West Reading, PA 19611. A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Charles Evans Cemetery.
