Obituary for Margaret Ann Ganas (Ludwig)

Margaret "Margie" Ann (Ludwig) Ganas, 83, passed away in her home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late George L. Ganas, and the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Drexler) Ludwig. She was an incredible mother to her children: Vicki Ganas-Stankiewicz, Louise Ganas-Persky (spouse Michael Persky), and Elaine Ganas (spouse Kelly Wloczewski), and a devoted Yia-Yia to her granddaughters: Zoe Stankiewicz, Grace Persky, and Mikala Persky. She also gave unconditional love to her grandcats, Gus, Harry, Louie, and Ginger.

Margie was a graduate of Reading High School and Bryland Beauty School. She worked as a beautician at Pomeroy's Department Store for many years, and taught Sunday School at St. Matthew's Greek Orthodox Church for 25 years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed oil painting, cooking (she was known for her baklava), all things floral, listening to Keith Urban, and of course her favorite pastime, her family. She truly found joy in the simple pleasures in life!

Margie was loved by all who knew her. She was the spunky and fun-loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. In addition to her previously mentioned granddaughters, she was the adored Yia-Yia to many friends of her granddaughters. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings: Herbert Ludwig, Donald Ludwig, and Jeanne Kallmeyer.

A special thank you to the team at Tower Health Hospice for their support over the past 7 months, and especially to her primary care team, Heather and Millie. Your love for our mother, and her love for you, made this time in our lives so much easier.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 9:30 - 11:00 am at the Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A Trisagion Prayer Service will begin at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.

In remembrance of Margie, the family suggests that any charitable donations be made in her name to the Humane Society of Berks County. Online contributions can be made at https://www.humanepa.org
