Obituary for Marguerite Mary Powell

Marguerite Powell, 91, of Robeson Township, peacefully passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, in the care of Keystone Villa at Douglassville. She was the loving wife of Robert Powell, with whom they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage last June.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Marguerite and George Hallermeier.

Marge, or Nana, as she was affectionately known, was a homemaker who loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was the definition of patience! She loved to prepare meals, especially holiday meals. When you got her laughing her smile would take over her whole face and she wouldn't be able to talk because of the laughter.

Marge was an avid seamstress. Making everything from clothing to curtains, pillows, and her favorite stuffed animals for her grandkids. She was always impeccably dressed and styled. She would never take us to the popular, smaller stores for clothes, always the very best department stores even though they cost more, she said the clothing was made better.

In her entire lifetime, she never uttered a curse word or said anything bad about anyone.
Marge attended mass faithfully with her husband at the Church of St. Benedict, Mohnton. They belonged to the Prime Timers Club, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Left to treasure Marguerite's memory are her children: Elaine Pennington, wife of Richard Pennington, of Barto; Robert Powell, husband of Cynthia (Salveson) Powell, of Collegeville; and Eleanor Mensak (Powell), wife of Christopher Mensak of Elverson; her beloved grandchildren: Rachel Mensak; Elizabeth Martin, wife of Zach Martin; Nathaniel Mensak; Michael Pennington, husband of Nicollette (Smith) Pennington; Elise Pennington, partner of Jared Deitrick; Rhianna Powell; Hailee Powell; and Tara Powell. Marge is also survived by her great grandchildren; Jason, Eva, and Levi Martin; Izabella Deitrick; and Kennedy Pennington.

In addition to her parents, Marge was predeceased by her siblings Eleanor Cabi (Hallermeier), Jean Blay (Hallermeier), George Hallermeier.

Marge adored her extended family that included many nieces and nephews. She loved attending family gatherings and hosting.

Mom faithfully went with Dad taking her children every weekend to view historical sites. Even taking them to see the launch of Apollo 11's takeoff in Florida for the moon landing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict's Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, Pennsylvania with a luncheon following.
