Obituary for Maria Ann Schieber (Pirocchi)

Maria Ann (Pirocchi) Schieber, 71, of Flying Hills, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Phoebe, Allentown.

She was the loving wife of Joseph Donald Schieber Jr. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 15.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Josephine (DiDonato) Pirocchi.

Maria was a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School in 1968, Springfield PA and Taylor Business School in 1970 earning her accounting degree.

She worked in the banking industry until 1975 at which time she stayed home to take care of her children until they were teenagers. After returning to the workforce in the 1990’s she managed the Holy Name High School Extravaganza Office for many years where she developed many lifelong friendships and made a lasting impression on the footprint of Holy Name fundraising efforts. At the time of her diagnosis, she was the office manager at Nathan Mayo Associates, Shillington.

Maria loved playing golf, racquetball, and tennis. She also enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and taking walks with her beloved dog, Madison. Family was most important to Maria and above all she loved attending the sporting events of her children and grandchildren and her annual vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey with her family.

In addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by her children, Jocelyn Civiello Dautrich, wife of Andrew Dautrich, Robesonia and J.D. Schieber, husband of Christine (Falcone) Schieber, West Chester; six grandchildren: C.J., Riley, Owen, Carsen, Brady, and Mackenzie; siblings, Patricia Rosini (Philip) and Barbara Kazio (widow of Ronald Kazio); and sister-in-law Mimi Liberi (Rusty).

Maria’s family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Selene DiNapoli who spent several years at home with Maria, the staff at Arden Court (Allentown) and Phoebe Allentown for such devoted and exceptional care during her disease.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 12, 2022, at 11am at St Ignatius Loyola Parish, West Lawn. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
