A DRIVE-THROUGH VIEWING WILL TAKE PLACE FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2020, FROM 10AM-12NOON AT THE KUHN FUNERAL HOME, 739 PENN AVENUE, WEST READING, FOLLOWED BY A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE, AND FINAL COMMITTAL AT GETHSEMANE CEMETERY. VISITORS ATTENDING HER VIEWING SHOULD REMAIN IN THEIR CARS AND ENTER THE PARKING LOT IN THE REAR OF THE FUNERAL HOME FROM EIGHTH AVENUE. INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE GIVEN AT THAT TIME TO ALL THOSE ATTENDING. Maria Socorro (Munoz) Silva, 70, of Reading, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, at Reading Hospital. Born in Humacoa, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Sabina (Burgos) Munoz and Nicholas Munoz-Rodriguez, and the widow of Antolin Silva.
A member of St. Peter’s R.C. Church, Maria was a devout Catholic with tremendously strong faith -- her family will attest to that! She was sweet and loving to everyone who knew her. She unselfishly cared for all of the neighborhood children, and was a Godmother to many. Quite simply, to know Maria was to love her. And she gave her love back to so many throughout her life.
Maria is survived by her loving family: son Antolin, Jr., husband of Jenny, Shillington, and daughter Margarita Silva Cosme, wife of Antonio, Reading; seven grandchildren: Jesus and Susania Munoz, Antolin, Isaiah and Kiara Cosme, Gentry Nelson, Jr., and Alexis Silva; six great grandchildren; and sisters Carmen Munoz and Ramona Duran, as well as the many nieces, nephews and Godchildren who felt her love everyday. She was predeceased by a daughter Sonia Maria Silva, a grandson Joshua Munoz, and three brothers: Jesus, Francisco, and JuanJose Munoz.
