Obituary for Marlene C. Hager (Cook)

Marlene C. Hager, 86, of Ephrata, passed away on March 17, 2022, at Lancaster General.

Marlene was the first born of the late Keith K. and Eleanor L. Cook, joining their family on October 26, 1934. A graduate of John Harris High School, she was given a full scholarship to Moore College of Art in Philadelphia.
Marlene was a very gifted and talented artist in both oil and water color painting. She also did basket weaving and pottery, but she was best known for her beautiful and outstanding work in scratchboard art. She took part in various art shows in the Lancaster County area and in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Marlene had many friends, loved nature and gardening and was a very caring individual. She loved art shows and found them to be more of a family reunion and artist get-to-together than anything. One fellow artist she enjoyed 'catching-up' with here in Lancaster County was Diane Fox.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband, J. Robert Hager; son, Scott; daughter, Melissa; and sisters, Gwendolyn, Casey, and Constance St. Jacques.

Left to cherish Marlene’s memory are her loving son, J.R., granddaughter, Sarah Smith, sister, Emilene Taylor, a niece, nephews, as well as a few cousins who have saved the day. They know who they are; God love them.

Services for Marlene will be on March 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Paxton Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, PA. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
