Obituary for Martha L. Lehane

Martha L. (Glosser) Lehane, 81, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Lehane.

Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Dr. William E. Glosser and A. Virginia (Renninger) Glosser.

She was a graduate of Wyomissing High School in 1959 and the Chamberlain School of Retail, Boston, MA.

Martha had a flair for style and put her interests into her career as a human resources manager for Sears and Filene's, was a store manager at Hickory Farms and worked in retail marketing for Reebok. While she was an accomplished professional, the things that gave her the most pride were being a loving wife to her husband and a wonderful mother to her children. She took great pride in her family, whether it was her children, grandchildren, parents, brothers, sisters, nieces or nephews. A very caring person, Martha treated everyone as if they were an old friend.

She attended National Garden Club Schools and was a world renowned and blue-ribbon artist for floral design, creation, and education. Through her years of dedication to flower design she became a Master Judge for floral creativity in the U.S. and South America. Locally she was a member of the Reading Garden Club where she taught many the art of flower arranging and design.

Martha had many other interests. She was a swim instructor at the YWCA, taught cooking classes, was an excellent vocalist, loved to play tennis and supported Habitat for Humanity. Her family will remember her for her selfless love not only to them, but to her friends, community, and all she met.

She is survived by her children, Matthew C., married to Donna-Lee Lehane, granddaughters Elizabeth and Katelyn of Marshfield, MA and Melissa L., married to Trent Henry, grandchildren Alexandra and Gregory of Virginia Beach, VA; four siblings: William E., married to Nancy Glosser, Corte Madera, CA; Susan L. Drake (Robert-deceased), Wyomissing; Virginia L. Stufflet married to Ronald, Reading; and Anne E. Houck (James-deceased), Wyomissing. Many loving extended family members and friends also survive her. She was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew James Glosser and Paul James Glosser.
